Innovation Centre Wins Again!

The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) is pleased to announce their win for the Community Capacity Building Award at the 118th Chamber of Commerce Business Awards held at the Marconi Club on October 18, 2007.

SSMIC was recognized for their demonstration in their ability to compete globally through innovation, technology and trade through the work of SSMIC's Community Geomatics Centre (CGC).

This award comes only a few months after another significant win for the CGC. On June 20, 2007, the CGC was selected to receive a “Special Achievement in GIS” (SAG) Award – International Category for GIS in Human Services at ESRI’s 27th Annual User Conference held in San Diego, California.

The award falls within the international category for GIS in Human Services and includes past winners such as the United Nations, New Zealand Ministry of Health and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD). The convention is the largest conference in the world devoted to GIS and was attended by close to 16,000 people from more than 120 countries.
