Bell completes two-year network infrastructure enhancement project

Bell completes two-year network infrastructure enhancement project along Hwy 17 between Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury

• $1.5 million investment addresses future telecommunications needs of communities and increases reliability of service

Sault Ste. Marie, June 2, 2008 – Bell has completed its two-year, $1.5 million network investment in Northern Ontario to meet the growing needs of residents and businesses in Sault Ste. Marie and the many communities along Hwy 17 to Sudbury.

These enhancements greatly expand network capacity for voice and data traffic to accommodate future needs, and provide a duplicate network infrastructure to increase service reliability today.

“Northern Ontario is a very high priority for us. This is another great example of Bell’s commitment to ensure that our customers receive the best service possible,” said Chris Bell, General Manager, North Region. “By expanding the traffic capacity of our network we meet the needs of our growing communities and, at the same time, provide Sault Ste. Marie with more reliable service and diverse infrastructure.”

“On behalf of the community of Sault Ste. Marie, we are extremely pleased that Bell has greatly increased reliability of its service to us and the communities along the Hwy. 17 corridor” said Sault Ste Marie Mayor John Rowswell. “This investment addresses the fact that is essential that our emergency service, telephone, data, banking and internet services be maintained should a disruption in one line occur. I thank Bell for their commitment as it aids in the growth of Northern Ontario.”
